10:53 pm: I WON!
For the first time in the last several years of participating in NaNoWriMo, I have finally done it. I have won! My novel is not close to being complete yet, but I have passed to 50K word plane of existence. I am so very proud that I was able to finally complete it this year. I feel great!

09:19 pm: Update? Negative.
So yeah I suck at posting on here. Eh, oh well. Nothing too exciting happens in my life as it is. Although, this past week was somewhat exciting. I got promoted to supervisor at work. And then the next day I took my test in Tae Kwon Do (which I have started again) and was promoted to brown senior. So that's cool.

I'm really posting because today I made cookies! Well, they were supposed to be cookies. I tried to form the dough into balls to bake them into cookies. Needless to say, the dough would not form into balls. And then it just spread on the baking sheet so I decided to make cookie bars! And I must say that they turned out delicious. So that's it. I just came here to taunt you.

09:41 am: NaNoWriMo again
So I was on vacation for the past week and a half. And while on vacation I wrote nothing. Which is totally fine. I did not expect to write anything while away. But now I am hopelessly far behind where I should be. But I am still writing! And that is the main thing. I have a little over 13K words now and my goal for the end of November is 20K. I will more than likely continue to write after the month is over because my story amuses me. And now for short excerpt that I just wrote. Some of you clannies will like this, me thinks.

Most of the dumpsters were a dead end. A few of them had some treasures that James grabbed up, but nothing was worth much money or was very useful. And, of course, nearly everything was covered with nasty garbage juice, which on most days, James doesn't mind. Today was not one of those days. The dumpster diving was not going very well at all, which started to irritate James. A couple of times, he fell over into the dumpster as he leaned over to get a bag of garbage. Other times, he would lose his balance and fall backwards off of the dumpster.
“God dammit. Isn't there a way to see into the dumpsters without falling off or into the dumpster? This is getting to be ridiculous” James muttered to no one in particular.
As soon as those words left James' mouth, the suspenders jumped to life. They hopped out of the shopping card and stood at attention next to James, almost anxiously waiting for his orders.
“Well, what the Hell do you want? Do you think you can help me? I don't think you can. But you sure as Hell could try to help me out.”
James watches as the suspenders seemed to sway in the air and try to decide what to do that would be able to help James. All of a sudden, the suspenders slipped behind James and he couldn't see them from the way he was standing.
“What are you doing? I don't want you to kill me! And I definitely don't want any Surprise! Buttsex! Either,” James cried nearly in a panic.

Watching election coverage tonight has been amazing. And CNN just projected Obama to become the president elect. I am totally trying not to tear up right now. Just...amazing.

12:14 am: Bloody Tequila Monkey!
"All of a sudden, the monkey leaped upon the man's face! He was biting the man's face and the man was screaming and screaming. Everyone else in the cafeteria just continued to eat their food while this man is being attacked by his monkey. I jumped up from my chair, but I couldn't move. It was like my feet were super glued to the floor. I stared in horror as the man was being chewed on. Finally, the man fell to the floor unconscious or dead. I don't know which. The monkey was dripping with blood. His fur was matted with it. The monkey glanced at me, then picked up a shot of tequila and drank it. As if it were a perfectly natural thing for him to do. It was the most horrendous thing that I've ever witnessed in my entire life. And then I woke up in a cold sweat, like I told you.”

Teeny tiny except from my NaNo. I'm at 6089 words! Wooty!

10:47 am: Animal Crackers?
Wtf. So the only character I've written about (so seemingly she is my main character) is obsessed with animal crackers. And she is going to be a superhero that shoots animal crackers out of her hands. Much like Spider-Man shoots webs out his wrists/hands. Where do I come up with this shit?

12:30 am: NaNoWriMo Time!
Yes ladies and gentlemen, it is that time of year again. The time where I inevitably write about zombies for somewhere between 5K and 20K words. This year I am going to try my hardest to actually hit the goal of 50K, but I dunno. Vacation really seems to thwart that, since I will not be writing when I am on vacation. We shall see though!

And my fingers are off to Open Office! Good night! <3

07:27 pm: Two things to share!

I finally watched the opening skit of SNL from Saturday. Oh God, Tina Fey is a bang-on Sarah Palin. Seriously. If you haven't seen it yet, check it out. This is one of the funniest things I have watched in quite some time. http://www.nbc.com/Saturday_Night_Live/video/clips/palin-hillary-open/656281/

Also, AJ linked this to me and it is AWESOME. Just upload your favorite song, pick a level of cowbell and Walken to add, and it will add cowbell to it! It's awesome!

04:25 pm: Game time in a bit over an hour, baby! Wooooohooooo! Vikings vs. Packers. Should be an awesome game to watch. And hopefully I won't be too tired to stay awake to do so.

In other news, things are going fantabulous. Finally found out that I will be traveling to D.C. in October. October 19-Nov 1, to be exact. I'm going to get some training so I can train other people at work. Should be an awesome time. One of my favorite co-workers is going to be going the same time I am, so I am definitely looking forward to it. Hopefully, it actually does happen. The last few times that I've been told I'll be going away or doing special projects, it's been canceled. If anyone is in the DC area and wants to hang out (I don't know when/how long I'll be available, however), let me know! I would love to get together! And then, a little over a week after I get back from that, I get to go to Michigan to visit AJ. I am quite excited about that. Get to see mah hunny and go to KoLumbus and see all my friends that I haven't seen since either Rochester or last year's KoLumbus.

Hmmm...what else. We just had the Republican National Convention here in St. Paul. It was an interesting time had by all. Got to do some special stuff at the airport and meet some really awesome TSOs that flew in from around the country. Met some Inspectors and BAOs. It was cool to talk to some of them and hear their perspectives on things and what they do in their jobs. And how our airport is different than the other airports. Just good times. Today was day 10 out of 12 in a row. It's getting to be pretty brutal, but it's all good. OT + holiday = awesomeness

Last but not least, I have an idea for my NaNoWriMo. Sure, it's still two months away. But I usually don't have an idea until November 1st. So I'm pretty pumped. I only have two characters thus far, but I am sure I can come up with a few more before then. Yay me!

11:04 pm: So yesterday we bid for our new work schedules. Since I was recently promoted, I am near the bottom of the totem pole (meaning there are a whopping three people that have less seniority than me). My new schedule is going to be 1245-1115 pm. With Mon/Tues/Wed off. This means I won't get home until around midnight. This is going to be a severe change from the 4am-1245 I am currently working. I don't know how I am going to stay awake for the first couple of weeks.

There are a couple of good things about the shift. Thankfully it even has good points, because overall it is pretty shitty. I will save money on gas since I will only have to go there four days a week. I will have three days off. And I will get slightly more money since I will be working more hours after 630 pm and I will get 10 hours of holiday pay instead of 8 hours. So that will be pretty nice. So I guess we'll see how it all works out when it starts at the end of September.

07:23 pm: Random update
I know I so rarely post. And it's never interesting. So I thought I would keep up the tradition of making sure my update is not very exciting. What has happened since our last update?

Let's see. I got promoted. So yay for more moneys and more responsibility. It's still strange for me to be part of the leadership of the checkpoint. I've only been a lead, officially, for about a month.

What else. Around a month or so ago, I went to Michigan to visit AJ. We went to the Kingdom of Rochester meet and drove through Canadia to do so. We got to stop and see Niagara Falls, which was really neat. Got to see a bunch of our friends again and that was, as always, awesome. Back in March I had also gone to Michigan to visit AJ. We went to see Matthew Good perform and that was just amazing. I am so glad I got to see that in person. And even though AJ didn't really want to go, he did because I wanted to. So yay. What a nice boy.

Honestly, I think that's about all the updates that are worth mentioning. I can't even think of anything else that would be worth it. Oh yeah. I got a new laptop. It's so sexy. And SO much faster than my old laptop. This lappy has a 320 gig HD. My old laptop had a HD of...20 gigs. Dayum. And so far, I haven't had any issues with Vista. Still crossing my fingers on that, but so far so good. And it isn't as bad as I was expecting it to be.

Okay, that update was longer than I was thinking it would be. Be on the lookout for another update soon. In four to five months.

05:55 pm: Yum...
So this girl came through my checkpoint today. She was wearing a sweatshirt that said "Yum." It's apparently the name of a bakery in a nearby suburb. Anyway, she walks away. Then, one of my co-workers comes over to me. Picture this man. He has to be at least 65. I'm sure he's old enough to be my grandfather. He is hunchbacked, balding, bushy white eyebrows. A bit on the round side. He is quite hilarious, but yet, quite old. He comes over and says "You should really have a shirt like that."

I just blinked. I was like "what? What shirt?" Hoping beyond hope that someone else came through with a funny shirt and that he did not mean the Yum shirt. And he replies with "Yum." I was just hoping that I interpreted what he said the wrong way.

Then he walked away and my other co-worker asked "Did he just mean what I think he meant?" And I replied "I think he just perved on me."

Oh a day in the life of a screener.

07:32 pm: Bought a car! 2007 Saturn Ion 2. Has 9K miles on it. Dark blue. Purty!

Also, my Nano 2007 total is 10,193 words. I wrote about 2K words today to hit 10K. I really wanted to get to 25K this year and I think that I probably would have, except that I got sick and didn't write for a little over a week. So this year's NaNoWriMo was a bit of a failure for me. I still want to work on my story though because I do find it amusing.

08:38 am: Happy Thanksgiving (to you US peeps)
So I really suck at my NaNoWriMo novel. I was doing really great. I needed to write about 1400 words a day to hit my goal of 25K. And now I haven't worked on it for about five days. I am going to do some work on it today though. In my defense, I have been sick. And right now I have absolutely no voice. The loudest I can get is a very quiet whisper. I think this is the second time in my entire life that I have ever lost my voice. It just doesn't happen. So I am quite pissed off at my throat. Fuck you throat. I hope you die in a fire.

But, I do have about 8K written on my NaNo novel. So that isn't terrible. I just was really hoping I could hit 25K by the end of the month. I suppose that it's still in reach, it's just going to be a daunting task.

Edited to Add: That sick mood thing is the best thing I have ever seen.

08:21 pm: Obligatory NaNo update...
I don't think I mentioned the topic of my NaNoWriMo novel at all. I've mentioned it to a couple of people, but not to most. So I am writing about zombies. In space. It is so awful and terrible. Currently, I am sitting at about 3,000 words. Which is really far behind the pace I should be at. But since my goal is only 25K words, I might be doing okay. Now here is a terrible excerpt from my novel...

“But the possibility is there! Oh, don’t roll your eyes at me. There have been several mass zombie outbreaks on Terra. That is why we live on Luna. Don’t tell me you forgot about that. They needed a safe place for people. A place away from the zombies and potential zombies. You should know the history of Luna and why the first colonists came here. Only two things are needed for an outbreak to occur here on Luna. One element is a zombie. Just one fucking zombie. In fact, it doesn’t even need to be a whole zombie. It could be the mutilated torso of a zombie. The second element is a single moron to get close enough to that zombie. If that moron gets close enough, he gets bitten. And bam, say good-bye to our zombie free paradise and say hello to the zombie overlords.”

02:36 pm: KoLumbus was this past weekend and I had a great time. It was awesome seeing all my friends again and meeting a few of them for the first time. I have to post my pictures, but I am feeling lazy so I will upload them eventually.

Also, I started my nano novel last Thursday. I haven't had any time to work on it since. So I still only have about 800 words. I am so far behind, I don't know that I will even hit my goal of 25K words. I don't even have any plans for scenes, unlike the last couple of years. Oh well. We'll see how it goes.

11:47 am: They're coming to get you, Barbara
Oh yes. It's nearly that time of year. NaNoWriMo is almost upon us. And I have yet another zombie idea. This one tops my other year's ideas. I won't let you in on it until I actually start writing, but I have high expectations this year. I might even get 25K words this year, which would be great ;)
